It’s these types of impromptu jam sessions that create an exceptionally rare evening on the islands. Maui’s musical treasure\, Uncle Benny Uyetake\, re-imagines Kanikapila evenings in Wailea with storytelling\, and world-class music. Through the Aloha Music Series\, Uncle Benny will introduce you to the new sounds from the islands and transport you to old Hawaiʻi as he hosts upcoming artists and Hawaiʻi’s legends. You never know who is gonna show up and kanikapila!!\nBenny has played with some of the world’s finest musicians on Maui and while touring. Over the years Benny has shared the stage with some of Hawaiʻi’s greatest trailblazers like Uncle Willie K and Barry Flanagan of HAPA\, as well as the world’s most talented jazz players Les McCann\, Russel Malone\, and Donald Harrison. His versatility comes from his years of musical study in different genres with mentors in classical\, jazz\, Hawaiian\, Blues\, and rock.\nKAMAKA CAMARILLO\nKamaka Camarillo is a native of Kihei\, Maui\, and born into the impressive line of local music educators and performers. His father\,Rama\, is credited for starting the Kalama Intermediate ‘Ukulele Band\, his Aunt is multi Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner\, LehuaKalima of Na Leo Pilimehana and his brother is Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Kala`e Camarillo. Kamaka has performed atmusical venues on O`ahu for the last 8 years and is currently a music teacher at Kaiser High School. His 2018 single with Wikz\, “E Pi‘iMai\,” was released in 2018 and garnered multiple nominations for the 2019 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards and Island Music Awards. Ayear later\, his 2019 debut album “S.O.U.L. Songs of Unexpected Life\,” won the 2020 Nā Hōkū Hanohano R&B Album of the Year.. \nANTHONY PFLUKE\nBorn and raised in Maui\, Anthony has been rooted in Hawaiian music from an early age\, forging an original path perpetuating themusic of his home. Writing and performing Hawaiian\, contemporary\, and reggae-influenced music on the ‘Ukulele\, and 12 & 6 stringKīho‘alu (Slack key Guitar)\, he is continuing his education in Hawaiian Studies at UH Hilo while following music wherever it takes him.\nAnthony has entertained across the State of Hawai‘i\, the west coast\, and Japan\, playing with some of Hawai‘i’s most iconicmusicians. DESCRIPTION:AG Presents is excited to welcome the amazing duo of Nicole Olney and Xander Hitzig\, better known as Desert Hollow\nThe name Desert Hollow is a definition for the geographical and artistic influences of this traveling duo. Xander Hitzig and Nicole Olney teamed up in love and music a few years back.\nXander comes from the West Virginia countryside\, and Nicole from the California desert.  Now\, they live in Maui\, Hawaii. They play folk music\, “music for the folks” as Xander so often puts it. Her lilting vocal seems to melt into the sturdy\, eclectic musical beds of each tune. His voice is as deliberate as an old-school folkie singing with no amplification. When the two come together in harmony\, it’s as if they have known each other all their lives.\nDesert Hollow performs both with a full band\, for more of a main-stage festival feel\, and also suitcase-sized duet for more of an intimate setting. The two sing mostly original tunes\, uniquely captivating songs that are timely and relevant but also harken back to something old. The Dance floor will be open!!!\nEarlybird pricing of $20 for the first 60 tickets\, then the price will increase to $25\, and day-of\, and at the door will be $30\nThe show is from 7:00 to 10:00 pm with Doors at 6:00 pm. Food will also be available until 9pm.\nWeʻre expecting a full house so grab your tickets early.\nABOUT THE BAND\nA KETTLE PRIME: The band A Kettle Prime – known fondly by their many fans as AKP – formed in the summer of 2007 each member bringing with them the unique experience of previous bands. In the short period of time between then and now\, the band has had a major impact on the local Maui music scene with its truly diverse and original sound. Combining elements of rock\, funk\, jazz and blues A Kettle Prime transcends the pop mainstream and normal island reggae feel to invigorate their crowd with crafty compositions and lingering note play reminiscent of today’s hottest jam bands. Whether psychedelic or trance\, soaring melodies or in full momentum it seems obvious that A Kettle Prime is rising.\nFLAT JACKSON: In 2014\, 3\,000 feet up the side of a dormant volcano in the most remote island chain on Earth\, a group of musicians gathered on a Tuesday night around a few stringed instruments and more than a few distilled beverages. Over the course of the evening two things became clear: 1) more beverages would be needed and 2) something magical was taking place. On that Tuesday night in Maui\, Hawaii\, Flat Jackson was born. The band took their name from the plethora of dead Jackson Chameleons that litter the streets of their Kula\, Maui home. It seems that the micro triceratops love the heat of the pavement\, but their molasses-like locomotion is no match for the knobby-tired four wheel drive vehicles that rule the local asphalt. Though it started out as a bluegrass band\, Flat Jackson morphed into…something else. No doubt that rootsy quality comes through\, kinda like someone dropped an anvil on Bill Monroe’s foot\, but essentially the range of influences have rendered the band genre-less. Elements of reggae\, folk\, rock (both southern and northern)\, blues\, punk\, funk and just about everything else coagulate into a sound as unique as the island they call home.\nROWDY LOVE: Aaron Jernigan and Stina Lynn are wild souls who met on a little farm in Haiku\, Hawai’i over a decade ago. On that first meeting\, they wailed away on their guitars singing covers that they both knew by Mississippi John Hurt\, Johnny Cash\, John Prine\, and Gillian Welch. Seeing as they both had the same taste in music they decided t ot start singing tunes together at parties and potlucks. A few years later they ventured out into another realm of genius and wrote their first song together. Sitting at a kitchen table with a bottle of wine\, whiskey\, strawberries\, and a bowl of cigarettes\, they had their firstborn song and named it Rowdy Love. It was a hit\, and alas Rowdy Love duo was birthed into this world! Joined by their amazing band\, Jonas\, Paul and Clint\, the music will take you on a sonic journey through Americana\, Ska\, Rock-A-Billy and with a punk edge.\n \nShow starts at 7:00pm.
